OEKO-TEX is not a legal standard but a standard for analysing harmful substances in textiles. Protal Protex cotton fibres do conform with Oeko-tex and when tested shows full compliance from fibre to finished garment.
However, Kaneka Corporation are now working on the next generation of Protex fibre. This will conform to Oeko-tex class 1, 2 and 3 aswell as retaining the uniquely high LOI performance. The new fibre is to a higher specification and is free from any substance of very high concern (SVHC) on the chemical register for Europe and also has any optical brightening agent (OBA) removed as this is anticipated to be added to the list. It is specifically designed for use in PPE products and has an LOI of 35.
LS International Ltd, as a member of the Protal partnership, will continue to benefit from these new technological developments as this fibre is only available from Protal partners.
